As a fee-only investment advisor, our recommendations are unbiased, objective, and geared strictly towards maximizing your investment returns and minimizing portfolio risk. We accept no fees or other compensation from brokerage firms, insurance companies, or mutual fund companies.

We charge an asset-based management fee to our clients so that our compensation for investment management is directly related to their investment performance.

Fees are based on the total value of your portfolio at the end of each quarter and are billed quarterly.

Asset under Management and Assets under Advisement fees are:

First 0 - $1 million in invested assets 0.80% annually
Invested assets in excess of $1 million up to $3 million 0.65% annually
Invested assets in excess of $3 million 0.50% annually
529 college savings plans 0.40% annually

Our fees are generally 20% less than the typical advisor. It is our goal to keep your costs as low as possible to maximize your investment returns.  Fees can often be deducted from investment accounts held at TD Ameritrade Institutional. Clients must provide advance authorization for deduction of advisory fees.

For younger clients with a smaller amount of assets to manage and plans to save for retirement, we charge a flat fee per quarter for investment advisory services only. We will work to help those clients grow their investment assets and become regular full-service clients as their savings grow.

Retirement & Financial Planning

We begin every client relationship with a review of all current investment assets and income tax returns, which allow us to understand your financial and tax situation and advise you better.

We will discuss your retirement objectives or retirement situation, in case you are already retired, and then project your investment asset growth and compare that to your cash flow requirements in retirement.

If you are not yet retired, we will recommend ways to accumulate the necessary savings to support yourself in retirement.

We work with you to analyze your existing financial situation, quantify and prioritize your goals, and project your investment growth and cash flow needs to an advanced age.  We can address your needs in terms of determining whether or not your investments, retirement earnings, and other assets will be sufficient to provide you with a comfortable retirement.  During retirement, we manage monthly or quarterly retirement deposits, tax payments, and required minimum distributions through our discount broker custodian.

We recommend specific solutions to provide for a safe and comfortable retirement and for meeting your other financial goals, such as buying a new home or paying for college expenses for your children.

All NAPFA registered advisors offer comprehensive financial planning services to their clients. Such a review includes your insurance policies, tax planning, debt management, educational funding, and basic estate tax planning issues.

Retirement and financial planning services are included in the Assets under Management fee for Investment Management clients.

Comprehensive financial plans are prepared for new or existing investment management clients as requested by the client for a separate one-time fee. The additional charge to prepare such a plan will vary based on the complexity of the issues for each client.

Special Project Consulting

Our investment management clients regularly receive consulting services from us on numerous financial planning matters, the cost of which is already included in their asset management fee. However, if the time required to research an issue is extensive, then we would charge our Special Project Consulting fee.

Those persons who are not Investment Management clients may also want to take advantage of the Special Project consulting service. For an hourly fee, we can provide undivided attention to your concerns and interests in numerous areas, such as:

  • Saving for College
  • FAFSA Financial Aid Form Preparation
  • Retirement Cash Flow
  • Investment Asset Allocation Review
  • Roth IRA Conversion
  • Review of 401(k), 403(b), or 457 Plan Options
  • Review Of Early Retirement Offer
  • Full or Partial Lump Sum vs. Pension
  • IRA Required Minimum Distributions
  • Divesting an Annuity or 403(b) Plan
  • Any other Financial Matter You Want To Discuss

Special Project Consulting Services are billed at the hourly rate of $300 to work with the firm president and $150 per hour when working with other advisors. Please note that we do not provide investment analysis, portfolio management or financial plans for an hourly rate.

In an initial meeting, we can provide an approximate estimate of time required to consult on a special project, but reserve the right to charge additional fees based on the complexity of the project with client approval.
